{"id":5926,"date":"2022-04-03T20:12:25","date_gmt":"2022-04-03T18:12:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pontius.de\/?page_id=5926"},"modified":"2026-02-24T11:42:16","modified_gmt":"2026-02-24T10:42:16","slug":"regenerative-endodontics","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/pontius.de\/en\/range-of-treatments\/regenerative-endodontics\/","title":{"rendered":"Regenerative Endodontics"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>The revitalisation (revascularisation) of necrotic pulp<\/h3>\n<p>A paradigm shift has taken place in the last few years concerning the treatment of teeth whose roots are not fully formed , in combination with a dead or dying pulp and periapical\u00a0periodontitis (an acute or chronic inflammatory\u00a0disease\u00a0around the apex of a tooth root which is caused by bacterial invasion).<\/p>\n<p>Classical treatment was aimed at the so-called apexification, which required the creation of a barrier at the root apex to allow a controlled root filling . However, not fully-formed roots are subject to a higher risk of fracture, due to their thin root canal walls.<\/p>\n<p>Completely new biological thinking and technology underlies regenerative endodontics. Its aim is to allow new tissue to be created inside the root-canal system by bringing together multi-potent stem cells from the dental papilla, growth factors from dentin, and platelet-enriched plasma.<\/p>\n<p>Crucially this process enables the root to further develop and achieve its structural integrity.
